NOTE: As promised, this is Part 2. Read Part 1 "Still to Chill" here".
Well, just open the gates and let a rainbow run through...
Glad you're back. Let's dive in! Kindly repeat the 4-7-8 breathing exercise (from the last post "Still to Chill") before feeling your way into today’s writing.
Now, soften your face, the corners of your eyes, your lower jaw and your belly. Cycle back through and each area and try and let them soften more and, until even your gaze softens.
From a relaxed place, listen to the world around you. Are trees rustling? Is there a lone leaf skittering and scraping across the ground? Do you hear people, music, or cars? Birds or animals?
As you allow “what is” to waft into focus, notice if it changes the way you feel inside and how your body reacts. Sense how you might begin move in order to be in sync with what is happening.
Picture how your torso, shoulders, arms, or hands might express motion with a paintbrush or a stick of charcoal. Imagine the colors, the speed, the texture, and the movements.
Your marks could be wildly different, depending on where you are: Maybe you would finger paint with force to a thunderstorm, or draw sinewy lines to mimic soft music. Maybe sirens whir and set off a car alarm — then a dog begins howls along, how do the pressure and colors you use need to change? Can you stay in tune and keep taking cues? Can you let the sounds inform what to do next?
Try this as your impetus for creating today:
1. Notice what is happening;
2. See how it feels;
3. Notice how your body wants to respond; and
4. Imagine expressing and releasing that reaction.
Now grab a pencil, paintbrush, or even a yoga mat and let yourself flow! Just take 5 minutes to see how it feels. Try it… and write me back with what happens. I’d love to hear!
Have a fantabalicious day!
